Synopsis

First of a six part adaptation by Andrew Davies of George Eliot's epic saga. Dr Tertius Lydgate is put in charge of the fever hospital in Middlemarch. Dorothea Brooke marries ageing scholar Edward Casaubon and they honeymoon in Rome.
