Synopsis
A full-length production of William Shakespeare's classic play, adapted and produced by John Powell. The action of the play takes place in the city of Messina, in and around the palace of Leonato the Governor, during a Spanish occupation of Sicily, many many years ago.

The second of four new productions as part of Radio 3's on-going Shakespeare series. Richard Eyre introduces a new production of Shakespeare's comedy that sparkles with verbal sparring in a world where nothing is what it seems. This production was broadcast as part of the BBC’s Shakespeare for the New Millennium season on Radio 3, in which the BBC mounted 17 new productions of Shakespeare in the space of four years.
